Definition of a domain name

A domain name is an identification label to define a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet, based on the Domain Name System (DNS). Domain names are used in various networking contexts and application-specific naming and addressing purposes. Domain names are organized in subordinate levels (subdomains) of the top-level Internet domains (TLDs), such as the prominent domains com, net and org.

For example, a company called "AB-CD" :

- The website address is : http://www.ab-cd.co.uk
- The email company is : contact@ab-cd.co.uk
- In all these addresses, there is a common part :

ab-cd.co.uk is the domain name

Aqua Ray gives you the option of putting your domain name "alone". If you want to include the hosting of your website and the messaging management (e-mail boxes) associated with the domain name, you have the possibility to take out an appropriate offer from the selection available in the section "Hosting". These offers also include a domain name.

: .CO.UK Domain

What is ...?

- www. : This is what you have to add to the domain name to get the web server name (www.ab-cd.co.uk)
- http:// : Followed by the web server name, build the (URL) web server address (http://www.ab-cd.co.uk)
